What is left over, of course, is the flotsam and jetsam of the winter....and some of that is bothersome.
Mostly I'm talking about dog poop. We have a dog. Ruby is also a very regular dog. You can pretty much set your atomic clock by her movements...which is good.
And we make every effort to pick up what she leaves behind. (Sometimes, we forget to take a bag. I don't know why. But I know it's always my job to go back and pick up her work on those occasions)
I do understand that happens. But there seem to be a significant number of people who don't want to take responsibility for the leavings of Fido.
Last month, when we had children across the city apply to be Councillor for a day, one of the ideas was to place dog waste bags at various areas around the neighbourhoods. I thought that was a pretty cool idea, even something a pet food place might want to sponsor.
If you go to Goderich, in the historic town square...there are such bags placed around the area. Ultimately it's the pet owners responsibility, but taking away excuses does come in handy.
So pick up your poop. Just a little thing that makes these spring day walks a little more pleasant for everyone.
