A bill to make November 11th a national statutory holiday is in the process of becoming law. Just four provinces, Ontario among them currently do not treat it as a holiday. (Manitoba, Quebec and Nova Scotia are the others)
Some people are concerned, saying making November 11th a statutory holiday, will cheapen the moment, and people will treat it as just another day off, disrespecting the meaning of the day. They also say school kids will miss out on learning the importance of the day, and taking a moment to remember.
Ultimately, that's up to us, isn't it? Holiday or not.
