As boring and immobile as she is right now, I doubt that will continue. So we've applied on line for a dog license. mypermits.waterloo.ca is the easy way to do that...
There are an awful lot of unlicensed dogs out there. Which is odd given how much we all say our pets are part of the family. Seems like a small price to pay for a little security.
Now, if you would like to discuss why dogs are licensed, and not cats....that's a very good question. My gut feeling is dogs are licensed...because they always have been. Not really the most compelling reason for anything. Someone told me at one time, dogs are licensed because they add a cost to the city...but I don't really know if that's the case. And personally, I've seen a lot more feral cats around than dogs. We have a cat as well, but she doesn't go outside...in fact, we've never had an outside cat.
Any feelings on dog ...or cat...licenses? I'd like to hear. In the meantime, Ruby encourages you to license your dog!
