Essentially we all want the same things,,,, We want to know our dollars are being well taken care of. As a growing area we want quick delivery of the services and amenities our tax dollars are supposed to cover, And we want to know the city is planning ahead when it comes to development in the Ward.
There's not as many philosophical differences at the municipal level, as there are in Provincial and Federal votes, and the lack of a bigger campaign, at the leader level, tends to narrow the differences as well.
Some people who have been watching some of the debates which have already been taped...have complained they are boring, Well, yes, they can be. Running for office can be a scary experience. Public speaking is even more frightening for most people, and being on television just ramps it up.
Recognizing all that , people who stand for election deserve a little more credit, especially if it's their first time...
And by the way, Rogers TV deserves some credit too. If it weren't for that outlet, there would be virtually no electronic coverage of any municipal election issue. Now, Rogers is mandated to do it for their community channels, but it's still important. You don't see any other electronic outlets making much of an effort (although I expect they will gladly accept the advertising money)
