If you haven't heard by now, the current numbers call for a tax increase of 1.53 per cent. If your city tax bill is 12 hundred dollars that works out to about 18 dollars. I'm not going to say "just" 18 dollars....because...well, that trivializes it.
Water and sewage rates are going up as well, by just under 6 per cent.
Over the next , almost two months, we well be getting presentations from staff on all the various plans...where we are spending more, and where we are spending less.
Maybe you're not getting a book for Christmas, in that case, I reccomend a little light reading...the City of Waterloo Budget documents

It's difficult to describe the documents as "user friendly" That seems like something we should address as the next couple of years go by. Providing information is fabulous, I'm all for it. But if it's not in a format most people can understand, it loses a lot of value.
I hope you'll take the time to look it over. If you have any questions, fire away, and I'll get answers. You need to be part of this process. It's our dollars on the table.
