Well, isn't that too bad? Yes. Councillors are elected to make decisions, but having input from a citizens group is not only potentially helpful, but a pillar of democracy. Perhaps council will take those suggestions. Perhaps it won't. that's the nature of our world. Discussion. Disagreement. Decisions.
If your feelings are hurt because you feel unappreciated or undervalued, the. perhaps you haven't spent enough time in the real world.
I believe citizens need a voice in what is spent, and how, whether it be by a citizens committee or from a form of participatory budgeting where Ward residents are given a voice in the priority of capital projects.
I cannot come up with a scenario where interested and informed people should be shut out.
